Siapa yang tak kenal Kawasan Rijswick di Batavia? Kawasan yang dulunya merupakan salah satu lokasi elite, digemari orang-orang Belanda buat berkunjung. Jong Belanda kerap datang untuk berkumpul bersama keluarga. Sebabnya lokasi itu cocok untuk sekadar bersenda gurau sambil meyaksikan opera.
Sayang, eksotisme kawasan ini nyaris tak tersisa setelah Belanda hengkang dari Tanah Air. Kawasan tersebut pun kini bersalin rupa menjadi Jalan Veteran yang berlokasi di Jakarta Pusat.

Suasana gegap gempita di kawasan Rijswick telah redup, hampir delapan dasawarsa lamanya. Tapi secuil nuansa kolonial masih bisa ditemui di salah satu resotran di Kawasan itu, Dapur Babah Elite & Tao Bar.
Berlokasi di jalan Veteran, Jakarta Pusat, Dapur Babah Elite & Tao Bar berfokus menyajikan makanan dari unsur tiga budaya, Belanda, Nusantara dan Tiongkok. Panganan tersebut lantas dipadukan menjadi satu makanan baru yang karib disapa masakan peranakan.
Meski telah berganti zaman, restoran ini tetap menjaga keaslian dari cita rasa masakan peranakan. Cita rasa paling kentara dari bahan-bahan nusantara dan Tiongkok, namun disajikan dengan tampilan Eropa.
Bukan hanya soal kulinernya saja. Dekorasi ruang di dalam restoran terbilang unik dan memanjakan mata.
